Why am i dropping to desk top?

I play Dark Age of Camelot and for the last few weeks I have had problems. Every 30 minutes the game drops to desk top. I am not going link dead and can jump back to the game. Someone told me that I have a program running but being the total pc novice that I am I cant seem to find it. Here are some of the things that I've tried:

Used Spykiller and Ad-aware
Unchecked items not being used in my msconfig
Switched from my IE to Mozilla

Currently I am using a 750 athlon, 512 ram, w/ Nvidia 5200 gc, win 98os.
Is there any help for me and my old pc?

 

Video and sound drivers are the first suspects when games don't work.

www.nvidia.com get your video drivers here, update them. Make sure you get the latest ones.

if that doesnt work try updating your sound drivers.
To give us some more to work with, it would be good if you could attach your Dxdiag log file.

To do this, go start -> run type "dxdiag" without quotes./

click "Save all information"

Save the file somewhere you can get to it.

Click "post reply" on this thread, click Manage attachements, browse for the dxdiag.txt file, click upload. Close that window, then post the reply. We can then tell you if you need to update other drivers.

Thats what the tech support people for the game will have you do over the phone. However if it gets any more complicated they probably won't be able to help any further, but we can!

 

What he said. If I recall, back in my DAOC days, that was a sign of video drivers being at fault.

I would tell you to go to camelotvault.com and go through the tech forum, however, the search function is a "pay for" feature.
