why am i not getting my updates

i think theres something wrong with my computer i have my automatic update thing set for 6am its 3:11 here right now (im in central time) so i should of got the updates at 6am right i cant understand why i havnt got my updates yet

can you guys help me

 

What happens if you go to Windows update site (go to start, all programs, windows update or, http://update.microsoft.com/microsoftupdate/v6/default.aspx?ln=en-us ), click "express", what happens? Do you get a list of updates to install, or an error message? If you get an error message, please let us know what the error is, including error code if applicable.

Also, please go to start->run: "services.msc" (no quotes), and check the status of the "automatic updates" and "background intellegent transfer" services; make sure they are set to "automatic" and are running. If they are not running, doubleclick on them and try to start the service, let us know what errors you get it they don't start.

thats weird when i go to updates from the start menu the updates thing doesnt go to that page you posted

Actually, that was the exact screen I was talking about. Just click on "express" and see what happens (exact url may vary on location, etc).

If it works, the automatic updates just might have not run because there were other things going on at the time (I'm not sure, but automatic updates might be smart enough not to run when there are other things going on).

If express finds NO updates, then probably you just had no important updates to install!

 

oh sorry i just saw the sticky i didnt know theres a new update site why do they need a new one

do i need to update my windows update thing now

 

Automatic Updates is probably working, it's likely you already have them installed.

Click on Express, and make sure you have all critical updates installed.

 

i just updated a few minutes ago but am i suppost to go to that new microsoft site in your link or just use the windows updates in my start menu

Just use your Start Menu entry, it's faster.
