Why can't my mobo just speak english??

My computer has worked flawless until last week when it decided to not turn on. Instead it gives me some post code beeps that I cannot decipher. Any help would be appreciated. Here are my trials and the corresponding beeps.

1. Start up with all components installed. 2 quick beeps followed by 3 slower beeps. non-repeating.

2. Start up with 1 ram stick removed - 1 long beep followed by 2 short beeps. this keeps repeating.

3. Start up with both ram sticks removed. see #2

4. Start up with no ram or video card. see #2

5. Start up with no ram, video card, or hard drive. see #2

I have also used compressed air to clean all the contact points.

Asus E8N mobo
Nvidia Gforce 6600 videocard
Kingston 1gb ram stick x 2
AMD processor (can't remember details and not at home now)

According to this http://www.computerhope.com/beep.htm
for Award BIOS, one long and two short means a video failure. Since it does that on tries 2, 3, 4 and 5, whether the vid card is in or out, that would be what I'd suspect.

I wonder if it can be two things wrong at the same time both video and RAM?

under Phoenix Bios beep codes, it says anything after two beeps indicates a RAM problem (that would be the first thing you did with all components in).
