Why di certain Web pages suddenly looking different with Firefox

The last few days the online obituary pages of the local newspapers look different in the Firefox browser than they did before. Some of the text is compacted and looks overlaid and no grid is separating the individual entries. I looked at the using IE and they looked normal. Here is a sample - the "normal" looking one is on the left:

What could be causing this sudden problem?

Could be a coding mistake for the webpages - different commands (especially when using HTML) mean different things to different browsers.

Or, could be a problem with Firefox, especially if some extension or add-on is acting up - a quick way to check would be to access the page with Firefox Safe Mode. You might also try changing the size of the page (Ctrl + mousewheel) to see if there is a change in symptoms.

Frankly, I suggest waiting a couple of days to see if the writers of the webpage(s) correct any mistakes.

What Operating system are you using? The CSS sheets for the sites could be messed up, or it could be an addon that you have installed. Post a list of add-ons that you have in Firefox. Also you can try changing your font that is being used.

Still need to what OS you are using. What font is in the Content tab? I use the Segoe UI font, which is the same that Windows 7 uses as its default, and have no problems with style sheets messing up in FF 17.0.x.

My OS is Windows 7. I haven't done anything to change the font I was using previously when the page displayed correctly. It does look "normal" with IE. My default font is Times New Roman.

Try changing your font in Fire Fox to Segoe UI. As I stated before, it would be a CSS Style sheet issue for the newspaper website, caused by lazy programmers, who do not want to make their site capable of being viewed across multiple browsers.

If you do a Right click on the webpage in question and choose View Page Source, it will tell you info about the page. It will give you enough info to show style sheet, and doctype, etc..

Did not expect all of that. It looks okay to me, when I go to the Albany Times Union Obit page. You will probably be best to uninstall Firefox on your computer and reinstall. The left over files if any, will be at appdata>local>Mozilla>firefox, same for roaming. Remove any leftovers and then reinstall FF.

Sounds easier if I just look at it in IE! Thanks for the advice, though. I have contacted legacy.com about this issue, but as I expected, have not had a reply nor is the issue fixed. It seems everyday I can do less and less with my system which I bought 11 months ago.
