It's been doing this for a while, and I can see nothing running to cause this. Any advice most appreciated. :)

Thankyou AtlBo I had not seen this until you pointed it out.

    Thanks Satrow...

I just checked, and I am not having this issue using Firefox. I have FF equipped with NoScript, Ghostery, and BetterPrivacy, and I am curious if some of the blockers like these are keeping some from experiencing the problem.

I like these blocker add-ons for FF, but they really are a bit hard to learn to use I have to say, especially NoScript...

Thankyou Satrow, didn't see your post until I refreshed the page. Think we can safely say it's just a FB issue then nothing we can do about it til it's fixed. Thanks guys.

Yes Emma, certainly pointing at something in FB itself.

AtlBo, I don't do FB so can't test it out but I'm pretty sure my uBlock Origin extension would help block it, if my hosts file didn't already ^^

EDIT: I don't use NoScript, big time waster, I just setup Pale Moon reasonably carefully and rely on a good hosts file + uBlock Origin (though little gets by the hosts anyway); not too concerned about privacy issues personally, more about security - but I don't need stuff that distracts me constantly.

    Satrow...

    Thanks for the information.

Wow uBlock Origin looks amazing! Are you using the standard hosts files?

MVPS host/hpHost/Peter Lowe's ad server list, installed/updated via HostsMan, DNS client disabled; Origin has similar add-in lists as well.

Spent 10-15 minutes earlier on an XP netbook w/ Firefox logged into FB, no spinning circle thing seen. NoScript was turned off for FB but Blur was active, no other privacy/security Extensions installed. Means nothing other than I tried to trigger it (briefly) ;)

    satrow...

Thanks. Is this something that works with Windows firewall? I don't know much at all about the Windows firewall and net related security. I'm using Private Firewall, and it's OK, but am exploring my options with that, too. Maybe I will start a firewall thread...

I use the W7 firewall; hpHosts is updated pretty much every day (MBAM Pro's active web component also uses it as a base) so you should be able to drop to the base firewall + a HIPS component like WinPatrol and have a high level of configurable protection.
