Why does the iPod Service process start when playing cd in Realplayer?

    I really hate itunes, ipod, apple....

    Why does the process start? Why won't it end after I exit out of Realplayer?
    Also after exiting the iTunes program, why is the iPod Service process is still running?

    Thanks in advance.

    (my wife loves her iPod, but I can't stand the limited or no options with these programs)
