Why does Win 8.1 still enable Superfetch on my SSD?

I though that Windows 8.1 optimizes its settings if it detets I have an SSD

Well I did a clean install of 8.1 Pro and after I installed everything, I ran the winsat formal command in DOS so it can run WEI and do the needful

I noticed that Superfetch is still enabled/

I have 32 GB of RAM and an SSD why isn't it disabling it?

I know I can do that manually but I am wondering if it is beneficial to keep it on on my setup

This is how my RAM usage is after rebooting and leaving the system idle for 10 minutes:

On Windows 7 my RAM usage would've been much higher indicating that it is loading programs in the prefetch I'm not sure it is really doing anything on Windows 8 even though the service is active and enabled by default

 

It may only be running a subset of the full Superfetch feature set. Try disabling the Superfetch Service for a few days and see if you can feel any difference in performance?

 

Pretty sure superfetch is always enabled, but does not run on SSD. Just like defragging an SSD in Windows 8/8.1 merely runs TRIM commands to optimize it. Run the same app on an HDD, and it will defrag.

Which makes sense, because users do not have to configure these settings when the hardware is detected accordingly.
