Why is Chrome disliked here?

Is Google Chrome ever going to come out with a 64 bit version? Also why does it seem like no one like chrome on this site?

I don't know about others; I personally dislike Chrome because I once installed it as a test. It automatically made itself the default browser, and after uninstalling, it remained the default browser. Any links wouldn't open any more.

So I have no interest whether or not they will release a 64-bit version. I am very happy with the 64-bit version of PaleMoon.

It doesn't automatically make itself the default browser. You have to untick the box asking you as such when you download it. Same as FF when you install/launch it. Same as IE when you launch it.

That might be the case now, captcha, but it's not necessarily historically true or true of piggy-back downloads. Surely the installer should offer the options, not the webpage pre-install anyway?

One of the alternative Chromium -build browsers also grabbed defaults for everything and altered the start page on my other Chromium based browser last week, I had to jump through a few hoops, even after it was uninstalled.

I'm also very happy with Pale Moon x64.

My gripe with Chrome was the fact that it BSODed my computer because it tried to access restricted memory and I know of at least one other regular poster here that had the same problem with Chrome.

I use Firefox for almost all of my internet activity but IE for dealings with Microsoft web sites like Microsoft Update or their Catalog site.

Honestly, its not much different than installing IE through Windows Update.

I tried Chrome a few years back because it was supposedly pretty fast. I lasted about 3 days with it. I couldn't stand it. I can't even remember why and maybe whatever the reason it was has been fixed, but I love Palemoon x64 as well and see absolutely zero reason to switch to anything else now.

Chrome in my experience is horrible for older computers with less than 2G ram. Especially considering it opens a new instance of itself for each and every tab AND extension.

Source: My 2001 vintage laptop and even my Emachines E525 with 4G ram had fits with it.

Also I think Chrome is slower for many. The actual browser is fast but many of my common actions take another click or two so it winds up being slower to use overall.

Is Palemoon a version of Firefox?

If you would like a faster version of google chrome. I would suggest in giving torch browser a go it's faster and also google chrome extensions work on it aswell.

Chromium, and browsers built from it, are sufficiently different from other mainstream browsers,
like Firefox, Internet Explorer and Opera, that initially it is uncomfortable to use and may seem
    quite lacking in features.

Accessing settings and options is more difficult and non-intuitive based on experience with other browsers.

Once I was able to negotiate these differences and found several addons that simulated features from
other browsers that I was used to, it became more palatable.

Also, the browser opens a separate process for each tab opened, so when a number of tabs are opened,
it consumes much more memory than other browsers.
The use of separate processes is intended to make the browser much more stable, but I never
experienced troublesome instability in other browsers, except for example, when using Adobe Flash Player,
which is the kind of issue that separate processes is intended to address.

Chromium based browsers are Fast, but with newer (and faster) hardware and decent internet
connection speeds, the new versions of the other mainstream browsers are perceivably just as fast.

I love chrome. I use it as my main/default browser. I also use firefox and IE (for microsoft sites). Chrome is fast, I like how it is automatically linked to my email and synced across all systems, like my android. Firefox, also has sync, but to sync is slightly more work to do. Both Chrome and Firefox are very stable and secure and fast. To me, it is more a matter of choice.

Chrome has a 64-bit version for linux systems... it just hasn't reached windows yet.
and can't say if it every will.

I will have to check this pale moon browser everyone here is raving about.

Chrome is my favorite browser. It opens to my home page only and is the fastest browser. I used Firefox (and Pale Moon) for many years but had numerous problems. Chrome updates flash automatically too. No complaints from me.

I'm a big firefox 30a fan (20140218). I'm loving the new interface. I've used most browsers out there, but, I always fall back to firefox.

The big issue with chrome is the home page, though one can use chromium.

I agree with the homepage issue, but I like my home page as google anyways, that what I set all my browsers to. Quick load and no bloatware. So for me the chrome homepage is not much of a bother.
