Why is plumbing such a pain in the neck?

Good grief, its hard enough to figure out the new angle of the ptrap and wall bend etc. But now I gotta figure out how to tap all the lines for the instant hot, filtered water, blah blah blah...ugh...today is gonna suck..

Plumbing is what bought us an extra week down at Bushnell this past summer. Not that it was all that much fun....

But I love our new bathroom down there. :) (thanks Eric)

    Hey Blues,

My advice if you have copper llines is to use compression fittings. Not as cheap as soldering, but it's much easier.

Just go to your local hardware store, and if they're like the one I work at, they'll fix you up.

man , between the kids and all the crap going on, it took all day just to get the normal stuff in. Had to remove the drain on the other sink and reseat it with new washers and fibre ring after it leaked..ugh.

At least there is water, disposal and hopefully the dishwasher works now...damn.

It'll be worth the work. It's unbelievable how much it costs to hire someone to come in and do the work. It's really great that you can (and have!) done so much of this yourself. I hope your wife appreciates you.

I've been so thankful that Eric has some "home improvement" skills. That trailer of ours would have rotted long ago if we hadn't jumped right in. And now we're going to be able to have water in the winter when we go down! Used to be only for summer, and we'd use jugs of water and bucket flush the toilet when we went in the winter.

No, but it's still a lot better than an outhouse. ;)

It's not that bad at all, just have to keep a bucket of lake water handy in the bathroom for when you need to flush and it forces it down. And we go by the old addage, "If it's yellow, let it mellow. If it's brown, flush it down." :D Still, it'll be nice to have water in the winter and not have to do that anymore. Plus, we'll actually be able to shower while we're down there as well. Next thing is to get a bigger water heater so the showers don't have to be so quick. :)

Don't get me started. I had a plumbing problem on a weekend, and because I live 20 minutes outside of Syracuse we got charged an arm, a leg, and our first born kittens (or the equivelent of $1200) to have a plumbing job done. They wanted to charge us $375 for a tub to line connection that with the parts only cost me $45 to do myself.

Chaulk it up to a learning experience. The next time you have a plumbing issue, you'll be ready with the tools and skills to tackle the problem.

I was about ready to chalk it up to a learning experience until last night. I get home, not only has she lost her cell phone which she HAD to have and is less than a month old, she mentioned she may want the disposal moved to the other side of the sink. Im telling you Im about ready to burn this house down and walk.

The trials and tribulations of a handy-man husband. I know it well.

BTW - I found that hole cutting tool with cover at lowes recently.

Glad you found it, it really makes the holes a snap. Doing them by hand isn't to bad but can be tedious.

Actually, I passed on it, but laughed when I saw it. I bought a new handheld hole saw. Cuts drywall like butta.
