If you haven't had the system long ring up the place where you got it & ask them for the password........if they put one there. Happened to me one time when working on a friend's pc.

You don't need to get into the BIOS to format/reinstall windows.

Before you do anything make sure you have all the drivers for your hardware, documents & other files backed up. Also make sure you have you 'key' handy

Insert the XP cd. Boot up. When it says press any key to boot the CD rom, do it.

Follow the screens. When you see you harddrive you want to delete it then create it again. This will wipe the drive clean ready for a fresh install.

Read the screens carefully & you should have no problems.

well... now im confused (easier done than said, u may be thinking?!) but after much trying from all angles... whilst i was in windows the disc decided to read and asked me out of the four options... which one did i want to choose, reinstalling windowsxp was the first one, so duh... i chose it and was quite happy till it said "the version you are installing is older than the one on ur system... blah blah blah, etc" ( i have sp2?) so i am in the midst of giving up :( ... but i have learnt something from all this!! = 'Turning a computer on and clicking a few buttons does not make you a pc genius!'

Your close but no candy. :D

Go back to booting with the cd inserted.

When it get to the hard drive youwant to DELETE the partition.

Use this as a guide to get you going.
