Why Is Word Correcting Spelling In Firefox ?

I have noticed that when I misspell words when replying in forums they become underlined as in Word. Is this a product of some MS Word setting I accidentally installed? I don't think it is a result of forum spell checkers.

So, if this is the case, how can I remove it? I assume it is taking system resources too.

Spell Check is a newer feature of FF. It's been there for several months. To turn it off Open FF and go to Tools>Options>Advanced On the General tab uncheck the box for "Check my spelling as I type"

Thanks for the reply. I recently built a new rig and reinstalled all of my software. Word and FF included. I just assumed it was Word doing some dubious antics in the background. I also assumed if this is the case then I wanted to shut it off as I figured it would take resources.

Since it is just FF I will leave it. Props to FF for doing it. I am surprised MS does not have a patent/copyright on the red squiggle.

I wouldn't worry about resources on that rig of yours. I'd kill it if it annoyed me.

 

Actually it is not even the rig in my sig. My sig is not updated. I recently built an AMD 64 4000+. Not a screamer, but it gets the job done. So, even at these specs being a Geek - I like to wring every bilometer of performance out of my rig.

 

LOL, spoken like a true geek. I have my AMD x64 Venice 3000+ folding at 85% of CPU and it works great even that way.
