OKAY -- this may sound self-serving, but I, as a female, do not believe those things.

I feel sorry for men these days because, you're right, they "can't win for losing" and they're bashed no matter what -- it seems.

I think the "feminist movement" of the 70s did LADIES little to no favors (except on the economic/work level). But other than that, we've downplayed the wondrous, colorful, delightful differences between men and women that should be celebrated -- not denegrated.

 

Wow! Why, thank you, pegg, it's not everyday that a woman sticks up for men! I really appreciate it! My wife Cindy will tell you how much I hate it when people "men bash" or "women bash" or any kind of bashing, except for a birthday bash!!

I'm very fortunate that my dear Cindy doesn't do any of the above, and believe me, I koow how lucky I am!

And you are so right, the differences should be celebrated. What a wonderful way to put it. I'd hate it, REALLY HATE IT, if this planet contained only men! I'd also hate it (but not as much) if it contained only women and me, as the only man!

Anyways, I think the post was funny, and I'm sure it could be reversed, and that would be funny too.

I agree, it is all true. I do feel for guys.

 

There used to be a day when a guy would look for a woman who would stay home, take care of the kids and have dinner ready when he came home. (Not a lot to expect) Then the 90s came along and all women wanted to do was prove they could be man's equal.

Now we have families that can't cook and kids who are closer to their babysitters than their own parents. I know some kids who already know a second language as well as english.

Yep. Firstly, I Appreciate it's only a 'joking' thing.

But having said that, it seems to me, being a middle class; Christian; Caucasian; heterosexual, male, with no major disabilities, (i.e. basically 'normal') - entitles me to all the abuse and responsibilities and no consideration or respect to some people. Not always, and certainly not from everyone, but pretty frequently in my experience, by those who have their own distorted agenda for whatever reason, usually a transference from their own failures.

I'm all for equality in everything. Be nice if it was a two-way street occasionally, though. 'Acting out' in any faction wares a little thin with me.


It's great to have a laugh, but when folks start actually believing it, there can be strife.
