Hi i reciently bought a HDD MP3 player 40GB with USB 2.0 enabled. My laptop also has USB 2.0. I looked up the transfer speed of USB 2.0 and its supposed to be 480Mbps yet it took me over 2 minutes to transfer a 430MB file to my mp3 player.

    Can anyone help me.

that's cause it is 480 MegaBITS / second, not 480 MegaBYTES / second.
so it does actually work at full speed.

also there's other factors like chipset design, chipset drivers, os, cpu load etc etc
