Hi, The speed marked in the usb adaoptor which i bought list the same 10/100 speed and supports usb 2.0. But when i tried the ethernet port with it, the speed i got is half of the useual port. I am getting nearlyl 11 mbps speed, but usb connected ethernet when tested gives me barely 4 to 5mbps. Why? if those could not be achieved by usb 2.0 version, my computer motherboard supports only 2.0 version, why then they are selling those in the market. are there any settings missed by me in configurng.
I tried as iam having problem of disconnect of dsl during start with the usual ethernet port, connected to the motherboard.
i downloaded the drivers for usb, and then it shows two adaptors in the device management tab. One my Realtek adapter and another usb 2.0 ethernet adaptor.
    I have tried these things
Disabling Realtek adopter enabling usb adapter
Disabling Usb adapter and enabling Realtek adaptor. But the speed could not be achieved.
Is there real limitation of the speed because of use of usb ethernet adoptor?
How modem speed could be curtailed by the USB adopter.
I want a detailed reply from experts

"The now-aging USB 2.0 standard can theoretically transfer data at a very high 480 megabits per second (mbps), or 60 megabytes per second (MBps). "
    Which means results vary..

I would suggest going back to the original issue of the ethernet port connectivity rather than focusing on a new problem you've run into while trying to find a workaround for said 'original' issue. Did you do any troubleshooting in regards to the ethernet connection problem? I'm not sure that this is even necessary anymore, but... when your ISP initially came to setup and install internet service, did they happen to provide any DSL filters to run the telephone jacks through?

I wanna say this isn't a thing anymore... but its possibly dependent on your geographic location, potentially still a recommended action in certain areas... I dunno. I just think the ethernet port would be a far better option if I had to choose between which headache to struggle with in an effort to resolve. Using removable flash drives in USB 2.0 ports is almost weaksauce now... keyboards & mice are all that occupy those ports for me, now.

Hi, Thanks . Trex. But why the usb device claim that it would process 10 minimum 100 maximum mbps?
I totally agree that usb 2.0 use is weak that it would at.
Wthe maximum give 5 mbps. Having enjoyed more than 12 mbps, i just disconnected the usb ethernet and i am now having 12 mbps speed.
The problem of disconnection of dsl start and restart ,
Would it have any connection with the wifi signals.
Normally dsl and internet stay on, even if the pc is not in use.
You also get wifi access in smartphones thro the wifi setup in the router in the situation.
Only ethernet port will disconnect and reconnect if you restart the computer.
So, the smartphones are having internal ip allotted when pc is not use by the ISP, with provision of external ip, to have internet access.
Would there be problem in assigning the internal ip to the device connected at different points of time.
Moreover, the smartphone has ipv6, it is samsung smaratphone and their connection settings are different.
My ISP still not shifted to ipv6.
Could you see anything amiss I disabled the ipv6 in my network adapter. Should i enable it even when my ISP does not support ipv6 at present.
    Expecting reply
