Why Won't The Laptop Shut Down?

When I am done for the (work) laptop for the day, I usually just close the lid to put it to sleep and shut it down completely on Friday.
Last Tuesday, I came into the work and the laptop was open and this screen similar to this was displayed (it didn't saying anything about the techincal preview just 2 windows 10 and windows rollback)

I have no idea what happened because I have never seen these screens before and it was not like this when I left the night prior and my boss swears he didn't touch it (in fact, he blamed it on rodents lol!). I tried the startup repair; failed, system restore; failed. Finally, I clicked on the first windows 10 icon, it looked like it was going boot but just went to a blank (black) screen, I left it for 10 minutes and nothing. So I rebooted and selected the second windows 10 icon, it booted like usually but then said windows 10 was corrupt and need to fixes some files, it took about an hour to fix but it let me finally boot in normally.

However, every time I boot in, I get the message "the recycle bin is corrupt, would you like to empty it?". I always pick no, because I don't know if picking yes will mess up anything. Finally, last friday, like I usually do I went to shut down the laptop but instead of shutting down, it just rebooted. I thought I picked restart by accident, so I made sure I picked shut down but it just rebooted. It will not shut down. The laptop works (which I need it too, its the only one we have here or I wouldn't be able to do my work) so I don't know if it's not a big deal that it won't shut down?
