Why Wont They Uninstall

For some reason i cant uninstall a few unneeded or unwanted programs and i dont know why, some are missing some install thing, i cant even use the control panel to do it, others just wont work

Opening more then one thread can be confusing for some!

What programs? What OS?

 

Window Blinds, Object Dock, Object Bar, Advanced DVD Player Pro....i have winxp sp2

 

I just tryed to uninstall BitDefender 8 Professional Plus, at the end of the uninstallation it said it was unable to write on C:\windows\installer or something like that, then it said uninstallation wasnt complete

 

I tryed to uninstall Object Dock and it said Could not open install.log.file

 

How exactly did you uninstall it? From windows add / remove programs, disc, other tool program, etc?


Windows add / remove programs sometimes *cough* is unable to completely remove programs *cough, cough* and you have to re-install from disc, then uninstall from disc. I have had numerous issues with removing programs through windows.

Sorry lost my train of thought. XP has that problem quite often anyway especially if it is not a microsoft program that came pre-installed on the computer.

i tryed the control panel (didnt work) then i went thru program files, and clicked on the uninstall icons for them(didnt work)

 

I believe you will have to re-install the program and then un-install it from it's own un-install. Can you re-install it? This is usually the best way to remove any program.


If that does not work then I have some ideas concerning programs here at MG that you can use.

The problem with using any other program as opposed to it's own un-install is the clean up after. It is always better if you don't have to clean up.
