I have heard that there is a device on the market that plugs into a USB port that will give my HP pavilion laptop wi-fi capability. Any thoughts, pro or con, or recommendations?

Yes thats correct, their are USB wireless adaptors that do indeed plug into the USB port and work fairly well I have one and it works fine on a desktop I have it plugged into. A pro.. at least you wont have to buy a new wireless capable laptop, you can use your existing one :)
