    Or.

My lap top has windows 7, the hd is missing some ABA thing and cannot be installed into the desktop, so I mistakenly has the laptop put into an external case. Now I can't find anything on it easy idly because it's all files in an odd setup. The laptop pretty much died. I would link to my laptop thread. But I'm on an iPod and can't.
Why can't have someone transfer all the. Data and files. Into my desktop? I'm still left without being able to use my wifi tho ... Dang thanks. For the help this situation is driving me nuts. Maybe I should just buy an apple desktop to avoid all this hassle. As I still need to upgrade my word files etc so my xp can use my. Win 7 Docs, which is why unjust want to trader alll
    The data

Super, I will look at those tomorrow at the library
Those will pick up my wifi via a USB drive+attenta, right?

Is there anyway to get my laptop had on the desktop hd. So I don't need to upgrade all my programs, like Word and Microsoft eddssientials, etc?

The laptop hd won't fit into the desktop. But mcant I get the info copied?

Best to install them again as copying the folders with out an install of the software will not add the registry files to make the software work properly on your new PC.

And to pre-empt a question a clone copy of the registry will not help and it will have the wrong PC/Hardware info in it, so will likely cause a need for a re-install.

Going to need a bit more info on what you mean it will not fit.....

Is it there is no space in the new PC for it to fit?
Is it that the Laptops HDD has the wrong connection for the new motherboard you have in say the old HDD is IDE/ATA and the new PC needs SATA?

While your looking at Wifi cards at the same online store look for IDE/ATA to SATA converters as that may help, I personally have a multi docking station to plug spare HDDs via IDE or SATA

thanks for the answer from the future question that I would have asked
i think i still have the windows CD but the windows 7 thats the OS came on the computer...that I dont have and it seems from what you say, i will need to buy it again or use Windows Xp, which is on the computer and not compatible with the os.....crap

he sells wiFi things cheaper than i can get them online

as for the iDE/sATA docking station or IDE/ATA to SATA converters ... i have no clue what you are talking about

I use CLEAR wifi and if i buy something like TP-LINK TL-WN722N Wireless N150 High Gain USB Adapter, 150Mbps, w/4 dBi High Gain Detachable Antenna, IEEE 802.11b/g/n, WEP, WPA/WPA2...wont I be able to use my wifi signal to get online?

thanks for the heklp. i am at the library and using the computer here, so I dont have to use the ipod touch to type, although i will check this thread a lot today

Thanks. I shoulda said the laptops HD was put in an external drive/casee so I can access it via USB. I was trying to say that accessing the drive is a pain because it's not organized as it was when it. Wasss inside the laptop, but my files I needed are on jumpdrives so I will just drag and drop them into the desktop once I get windows 7 installed and a wifi card added, computer guy is using the license number? From win 7 on the laptop and adding a wifi card... My concern is will 1gb of ram allow windows enough memory to run?
