widows xp recomended updates not turning on

    my widows xp recomended updates is not turning on ,i have went to control pannel etc and into system and tried from there but when i press ok or apply nothing is happening ,any ideas as every time a turn the pc on iam getting the wee balloon with the red sheild ,thanks

    Are you wanting to enable automatic updates or get rid of the message when you boot the PC?

    its telling me i have automatic updates ,but on the the main security page its turned of :confused ,and i would like to get rid of the message ,thanks

    Right click on the shield thingy and then in the lower left (I think) clike on the change how windows notifies me, and disable it there.
