wierd error message

I'm getting a strange error message at start up "to many peramiters" would anyone know what this means,I've never seen it before.
running win 98se
258 sdram
please tall me if there is any more onfo. you may need .

HI!
Found THIS:

The message 'Too Many Parameters' is displayed during boot; before Windows starts to load.
The PC has been running very slowly of late. The system monitor shows that with 'apparently' nothing butWindows running almost all of 64mB of meemory is used.
System is Intel PIII, 600mHz using Win98 Second edition.

'Too many parameters' sounds like a DOS syntax error message. Have you modified your autoexec.bat file recently? In any case have a look at that file and check it out.

P.S. Too many parameters means too many spaces in a command

did find a site that explaned how to edit it,and i did find 2 blank lines in the middle which i have removed.but error massage is still there even after a reboot.It does't seem to be a big problem since most programs don't seem to be affected(more of an anoiance)though sum larger dos programs do stutter a little.
