You guys remember that old compaq that i was having problems with? Well its back and this time i swapped out the HDD. I made a fresh new Boot Disk. I start the computer, and i get a message that says:

    Lists system hardware
    bla bla bla
    Error
02B3: incorrect drive b type - run setup

i can run the setup but i dont know what to change.

when i go on and ignore the error i get a "operating system not found"

This is all really throwing me off. My friend wants the computer back by friday so i need to get cracken. Please help!

    Thanks in advance!

Have you got the jumpers set correctly on the hard drive that you swapped? Also, if your trying to boot XP on this from a previous installation, its not gunna happen. XP really doesnt like transfering computers. Have you got a bootable XP CD? If so, can you boot up with that?

    Hi Goldfish,

I looked at the jumpers and realized that i had it on slave instead of master. Also the drive is empty with no operating system.

So now that, that is fixed, when i boot the floppy drive starts working and the light comes on but nothing boots. I get a message that says, "operating system not found" or i will get the "Invailed system disk, Replace disk and press any key"

I do have a windows XP Cd, but how would i boot up with that and then put in my Win95 cd? When the computer boots i believe it starts the setup right away? Im not sure though ill have to give it a try.

    Thanks for the help!

For that error find the Drive B: setting in BIOS setup and change it to NONE or DISABLED.

    ok guys,
Out of no wear the computer booted from the floppy. I have no clue what i did, or even if i did anything at all. So now i am ok except,

The floopy boots, but i get a message that "Device Driver not found - 'Banana' "
"NO valid cdrom device drivers selected"

Everything works ok but i cannot get to my cdrom. I got the boot disk from bootdisk.com It is the win98 w/ no ram drive. Since this is the only floppy that has worked i really dont feel like formating the disk and then redoing the bootdisk and find out that it doesnt work.

Is there a way i can add the files necessary for me to run the cdrom? Where would i get these files?

    Thanks

You'd need to get a boot disk which would give you MSDOS 6 with CD Rom support... and then run setup from there, by going to the CD drive and then run setup.exe from the command line.

    Oh yes.. Banana?!?!

    Hi goldfish,
I tried every bootdisk on bootdisk.com The only one that worked was win98 w/ no ram drive. I formated the same disk i used and tried the other bootdisks. No luck I then tried to put the one that worked on the floppy, and now i am getting "invalid system disk"

Is there anyway i can use my xp cd to boot up the computer and then put in the95 cd and run setup? That would make things a lot easier.

    Thanks

My guess is your floppy drive might be bad. Do you have another one to test it with?

Do you happen to have Floppy Mode 3 support anabled in the BIOS?

"Operating System Not Found" is generally a boot loader error, but I've never seen it on a floppy. I suspect either bad disks or a bad driver. Or lose/bad cable, I susppose.
