Anyone have any idea what can cause stuff like this?

(his face is supposed to look normal)

Thats a shot from doom 3. I've played with the graphics settings within the game, but it doesn't fix it. I've also noticed the same sort of thing in other games too. My video card is an ATI Radeon 9200.

Is the shading glitch persistent or does it happen for a few seconds?

This happens all the time with all characters in the game, though the difference in shading on the the two sides of the face does change depending on what angle the person's head is turned. If its at exactly the right angle, it looks normal (i'm guessing thats when the person is facing the light source head on), but the rest of the time it looks messed up.
