Wife is having Brain Surgery off topic

Just a note to all, I have been a member of this board for 1+ month but feel its my home away from home. so I shall share with my online family what is happening in our lives at the moment.


My Wife has a very RARE medical condition. Called spontanious CLF...In short she is leaking Ceribral Fluid through her nasal passages,usualy happens from head trama but none has occoured this is why its called Spontanious !!!

At the base of the brain there is a small bone plate that she has developed a hairline crack , She is schedualed this Wed. the 25 for Brain Surgery to repair the leak.

She will be at Jackson Memorial Hospital/ University of Miami. Considering that it is such a rare condition, we have the head of all Dept's thier to preform the procedure at hand, all Chief's of staff. I will have a long wait on wed, and the University has wi-fi,,,so I will be online while I wait, to keep family and friends informed. via email and IM's..


All I can ask is that if you have a faith, please excersize it ,f you are Jewish go to temple please pray, If you attend a church please light a candle, If you are muslem please pray to Ala..LOL any and all of your thoughts and prayers will be appreciated,

UPDATE,,,Just got a call my Wifes surgery is set back to the 1st of September.,,We are all very upset here, made plans for our child my wifes work etc etc,,,seems the cordinator of the surgery dropped the ball BIG TIME ,,,when they set the date did NOT check to make sure BOTH DR's needed were going to be there . And now many processes ,,IE blood workups pre op testing will all have to be repeated..feel so bad for my Wife ,,,getting mentally prepaired and the logistics of the whole thing..Having Surgen call us today !!! someones head will be on a plate there for sure , Glenn

As hard as it is, try not to let administrative bungling get to you, Glen. You're right about waiting being the hard part. I usually just try and keep my mind at least semi-occupied on something else when not needed for the task at hand in times like this.


Your wife and yourself are in my prayers and thoughts as you go through this difficult time.

All will work out fine in the end, I'm sure.

about twenty years ago there was this guy my mom worked with

always had a runny nose, didn't know why
he too had somthing like that. it was brain fluid coming out. . .
he was on cocaine though

other than that he was a good guy

Well glad to say that my wife is not a drug user LOL...and now that the frustration has settled,,,we are dealing with setback ,,,just all the logistics,,hotel near hospital had to change date,,,daughter at friends house,,to keep her on track at school,,,,etc etc,,,it was the coordinator of the surgery that could not get 2 people in one room at the same time to them not a big deal,,to us we have to replan all..we live 40 or so miles from hospital so its a challenge to keep my child on track and as normal a time while we go through this process,,,,after my wife completed a battery of tests and preop,,stuff,,,may have to redue because they need the tests 10 days prior to surgery,,,,Thanks again all,,,now we are in a holding pattern again, Glenn

UPDATE :

After many a delay the hospital schedualing error , and many a hurricane ,,,My Wife's Surgery is now schedualed for this commiing Wednesday 11/13 , Yes are a BIT ,at the least nearvous, and on edge, to be expected ,, But a good bid of confidence, the DR The Proffessor Of University of Miami Medical Center, Was on ouur local TV , just this week,,,restoring peoples voices back, that have not spoken for years through a NEW process that is still not FDA approved, in a trail study that is 100 % sucessfull so far, So knowing that this brillient MAN is going to be the one performing my wifes surgery, is very comforting to myself, wife and of course our Daughter. ..I will keep all updated, the Hospital has wirless internet and will have 3-4 hrs of NEARVOUS wait time during her procedure, Glenn

Wednesday's surgery

Wow - a month and a half ago you first posted this...can't imagine the wait and the worries and the wondering you've all experienced.

You said yourself that you're in the best hands with the surgeon you have...you're blessed with that!! Waiting will be hard. I do hope you will have family or a friend or two with you -- be bold and ask someone to come and be with you (sometimes someone wants to help but doesn't know what to do and would love to just "SIT and BE")

For those who believe in God, His love can give Perfect Peace in the middle of these stormy and uncertain situations...I hope you and your family can find His peace and rest on Wednesday and during your wife's recovery.

 

All the best to you all........I'm praying HARD and will continue.......
God will bring you through this, I am sure.

To Butterfly, and all else who have posted on this thread, Its truely wonderfull to know in this little community of ours here at MG, that people behind these screan name's, become alive with personality, love and caring !!

Tomorrow is the big day,,,and as the hours go by today, we become more on edge,,,completely NATURAL,,,I know yet uncomfortable,,,We have made arangments for our daughter to stay at friends house, one definatly or maybe 2 nights, as to keep her schooling undesturbed, and her scheduale, somewaht normal,

Peg I do find peace in believing, and the rest in in the hands of a skillfull man at the operating table, and all else in the mans hands above. In referance to someone to sit with, I will be alone,,,but with all of my family here online and in REAL life LOL and my family on the otherside, in my heart, I will be fine. Hugs !!!!

I see that you're online and I'm about to sign-off.

Get plenty of REST tonight (if that's possible). Eat small snacks tomorrow (bring some with you) and plenty of water or juice. Remember to get up and walk around some too - it might help pass the time but your body will also appreciate moving.

She's in good hands and she'll do well.

Hello Glen,
I just want to wish your wife and family the best.

I've been reading this thread cause we have something in common.
My wife is also going to have brain surgery, we will find out Monday when.
My wife has been having very bad head aches for quite some time after many trips to several doctors and nermous test's MRIs etc , she has been found to have an annerism which is located on the front of her brain behind her eyes.
She will have her surgery at University of Illinois medical center at Chicago.

I know what you and the family are going thru, Keep your spirts up, Keep your chins up.

Ive kind of run out of word's for the monent, so keep us updated.........
