A friend of mine is still running Windows ME. Why? Who knows. Anyway, he bought a wifi cardbus adapter for the laptop (802.11g) that said it supported WinME. This is partially true; the included CD had WinME drivers, but when he tried to install the connection manager utility, it said WinME is not a supported operating system; only Win2000/XP/Vista. So, he has the drivers installed, but can't surf because he can't connect to the wireless router because the lack of the connection manager. WinXP has this built in, where you can select the network from the list of available wireless networks, you can enter a WEP/WPA key if needed, and so on. Without the connection manager, the card is useless with WinME. SO- the question is this- is there a "generic" connection manager app that will run under WinME that supports a wide range of (or any) wifi adapters? His is an SMC model SMCWCBT-G....
    Thanks.

Thanks plodr.... problem solved a while ago. I should have posted sooner so you didn't waste any time. This particular issue has been corrected, but I now have a new one in the hardware forum, it's about the same device, different madness ;) If interested, go here: http://forums.majorgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=153481
