Just reinstalled Windows after receiving a repair cd in mail from Dell. Reinstalled the drivers for hardware but cannot connect to internet with . wifi. After looking at device manager there are 2 yellow marks next to the ethernet and network controllers under the other devices subset. Are these devices subsequential and how do I connect my computer WIFI please?

    Hi

Could you post the model version of Dell you have as this will help, or just goto Dell Support HERE and find your model and then install the Chipset driver and reboot, then install the WiFi driver and Network (ethernet/LAN) driver.

Do you see your WiFi router in the list of available connections? if so and you click to connect to it are you asked for a password? (possible that your WiFi is encrypted with WEP, WPA etc and these need a password to connect, you may have set one or it could be underneath your router)

When you open your browser what error does it give you?

Will have to tell us what Windows version and service pack you are using and what model router?

Wfi is not listed in connections. When I open IE I get the following message, "The page cannot be displayed. XP Pro SP 3 Version 2002. The router is encrypted with WEP and I know that and router pw. TYVM

    Hi

Everest is a system hardware ID application as we now already know your model of Dell PC as all the info on hardware and drivers will be on Dells website for the D160, Everest only helps when we dont know info like this or its a custom build PC.

But it may help narrow down the Wifi driver as Dell list a few, so use the guide I created below to gain a log

I would install the Chipset HERE, then reboot and once we know the exact hardware we can install the drivers from the full list HERE for your model PC

check to see that your WiFi is not disabled using this guide HERE (good set of troubleshooting steps)

    Everest Report (wifi drivers prob)

Thanks. Here is the report. Downloaded and replaced the chipset that i already had just to make sure. Ethernet and Network Controllers still have that bothersome yellow exclamation point next to them. :cry Thanks.

Hello mistyeyedchick (hope your eyes arnt too mistyeyed!)

Ok great on the log, cheers that will help...

Install the Broadcom Ethernet/Lan driver from HERE and reboot and check device manager.

Did you also check the Microsoft troubleshooting steps for WiFi?

Maybe worth attaching a full Everest log or custom one and steps are below, as just need to know what Wifi hardware is used in your PC and the quick report doesnt seem to show that for once.
