WiFi not working....

I was going to post this in the hardware forum, but after I tried one last thing, I realized it's a software issue. Here we go: Toshiba Laptop running XP Home SP2. PC had some malware but that has been cleaned completely and there's no more malware issues. I do not think the Wifi issue is malware related; it might be an end result of removing the malware however. The integrated wired network adapter works great. The built-in wifi sees the router but will not connect; the reason reported by Windows is that the IP address cannot be renewed. Here's what I've done so far (in no particular order) : checked the wireless configuration service and disabled/enabled/rebooted; reloaded the wifi drivers; run the network repair; flushed DNS; repaired/replaced Winsock/Winsock2/TCP-IP; ipconfig release/renew (cannot renew IP address); LSPfix; uninstalled IE7 back to IE6; tried Firefox/Opera; Dial-A-Fix; system restore to a week ago; undid the system restore; and finally installed a USB 802.11b/g wifi adapter and did all of the above again (except for the system restore). Now, here's the kicker: IT WORKS IN SAFE MODE WITH NETWORKING!!!! WTF?!?!?! :*** :cry :mad :crybaby :banghead :guns :hammer :boxing
So, anyone got any bright ideas????

 

I still haven't got the onboard wifi to work. I did get the USB wifi adapter to work in normal mode. I have even tried a safe repair install of Windows and the onboard wifi still isn't working. I'm leaning towards the fact that maybe the onboard wifi is faulty. I have one or two other tricks up my sleeve, but I think it actually is a hardware issue.
