    Hello,

    Laptop : Thinkpad SL500
OS : Windows XP Professional , Service pack 3

The last time i used Wi-Fi was like 2 months back.

Today,i get a message "No Wireless networks were found"

I have tried the following and am posting the results

Wireless Zero configuration is started -- Services.msc

Device manager shows No Yellow symbol,
    under Network Adapters I have
    1394 Adapter
    Intel (R) WiFi 5100 AGN
    RealTek RTL8168C...

I activated Wireless by using Function key available on keyboard (The Wi-Fi indicator is On and blinks intermittently)

I do remember, i did some changes to services.msc few months back.
    I regularly download Windows updates.

What could be the problem ?

Should I go for Windows Repair ?

    Kindly advise.

    Thanks a lot !!

    Cheers,
    geekfollower

Sorry if this is obvious, but have you checked that the other end of the wifi (router) is okay?

    Hi

can you also remember what changes to services.msc did you make?

If you look in the System Tray and hover over the icons, their will likely be a Windows WiFi icon for WZC, but is their a IBM or Intel WiFi cards network config tool as two running to manage wifi connections will conflict, so disable one of them, personally I would go with Windows WZC.

You have not changed anything in the Wifi router itself have you like disabling the broadcast of SSID? if so then re-enable it and see if your network is listed.

    Possibilities -
    1) Update drivers for wifi adapter.
    2) Uninstall wifi adapter from device manager, reboot and drivers will be reinstalled.
    3) Delete wireless network connection and redo from scratch.

    Hello,

No, unfortunately i dont, I read the manual on internet saying how to speed up XP and disabled few services

I tried it, No success. please see the attached jpeg images.

I m not allowed to delete the wireless network connection, status and Delete remains dead or inactive.

Thanks a lot for your suggestions.

    What next is advisable ?

The pictures you have attached are tiny. Can you enlarge them at all please?

As for your problem, all I can suggest is looking through MSCONFIG and seeing which services are stopped and finding out if they need to be restarted.

I changed the attributes, i hope its better now.

Do you think, i should go for Windows Repair ?

Could you please tell me, do i have to reinstall all the drivers again or they remain intact ?

Finally, i have done all the updates till date. Is it possible like,i copy the updates to CD and then update the repaired Windows version, How ?

    Many thanks again.

It would appear that the WIFI control service has been stopped. I would suggest you check your MSCONFIG for the service and restart it before reinstalling anything.

    Hi

Judging by your last screenshot you have Intels Wireless Config setup installed and this will disable WZC and its by design, need to open the Intel PROSet/Wireless utility and logon to your WiFi network. (should be in this location Start » All Programs » Intel PROSet Wireless » WiFi Connection Utility )

Some info here on this and also how to disable the Intel one and use the Windows Manager

This is weird, i my self thought , Wireless drivers are installed, but to my surprise, i dont see anything in Start » All Programs »

now this post also says the same thing, the installation procedure runs fine and no message is displayed indicating installtion failure but installation doesnt work, i think.

I deinstalled everything, installed new drivers, restarted, but no, no signs of success.. i made sure, drivers were for XP , 32 bit.

I am googling, if any one already came across issue, please post solution

Is it that Windows XP SP3 is not supported. some posts even state SP3 is not supported. I will try to contact Intel and post a solution , if i succedd

    Thanks
