Wifi Problems... But there's a catch

Alright so this is gonna be a little tricky, as I'm more so doing research about things... and here's why...

My fiancee's parents went on vacation before they left I introduced them to Comodo Dragon (based on Chrome) and they really had no issues before they left besides hitting a slow computer but I figure that's not a dragon problem... So now they're on vacation, they're down in Florida and I'm still in Canada... I got a call from her father saying that he can't get connected to the resorts wifi and normally they can.. He's putting 100% of the blame on Comodo Dragon and he says "if I could get my hands on Chrome I bet it would fix it" he refuses to listen to me when I tell him they're basically the same browser.

When he tries to connect his status reads "limited" I know he's running windows 8.1 right now and currently on a cruise, although I have a feeling that later this week I shall be getting a phone call from them saying they can't get connected so I figure if I can do some research prior to talking to him I can possibly get a step up on this...

As I said they're in Florida so I can't physically touch the laptop they're on. Next time I talk to him if he puts the blame on Comodo I am going to tell him to uninstall it, although he does have IE on the laptop but it crashes when he tries to open it (or it simply doesn't open) as he has dropbox on the laptop so I can send him files so I can send him another browser through dropbox if by some chance the connection comes back..

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated

    Thanks in advance

It's likely a DHCP issue - the system that obtains an IP from a router. Ask him to open Network and Sharing Center in Control Panel and click on the WiFi name alongside Connections. A WiFi Status box will open - click Diagnose and cross fingers - often works.

This assumes that either the network is unsecured - unlikely - or he has obtained and entered the wireless key from the resort management.

    100% it isn't the browser.

Thanks Earthling I'll keep you posted if this works next time I talk to him, no doubt later this week.

Alright so I got off the phone with my fiancee's parents and the idea didn't work, I'm no longer looking for suggestions because by the sounds of it her Dad is just frustrated with the computer as it's god-awful slow and by that I mean
We both use Comodo Dragon on to browse, he asked me to open mine while we were talking and within a second I said "Alright opened... what would you like me to do?" he told me he clicked to open his at the same time and he's still waiting it took a good 2-3 minutes to open and half the time the windows "loading circle" would always be showing.. so for the time being they shut the laptop down and I'll look at it when they get home as it's hard to diagnose the problem or fix it if you can't see the computer.

Thanks for your help Earthling I appreciate the help even though it didn't work.
