Hey friends & friends i havn't met yet

I heard a joke today, but i dont think it might be ok to broadcast it:-D

Any way, i shouldn't tell it!

I was just wondering if anybody might have used solid works CAD modelling software?

I wouldn't ask, only I have an interview looming Easter Tuesday.

I'm making a portfolio up of my past work.

I don't really have a question at the moment, but life is hard when your a rolling stone - I need to nail this bloody thing!

My portfolio will be the 2nd impression I make. I wont have a necktie, but that isn't important. Beginning to prepare.

    Any thoughts

    Thanks

    Hi

I would take a look at the company you are interviewing for and gauge what other employees are wearing as a necktie or suit at times is the best impression to make as in design area as with many jobs - First Impressions make a great statement.

Indeed a portfolio of your work is a must, I had to do this last week for a promotion interview and having your work in front of you allows you to remember what you have done and is a great talking point.

I would also research the company and what they have done in the past, so you have a few questions for the interviewers, always ask an interviewer about their company and jobs they have done in the past, things like if its a building say ask "what was your thinking behind using X material"

But good luck and hope the interview goes well.

Yep, use Solid works fairly regularly, (along with Inventor). These all require a pretty large learning curve, (kinda like trying to be an expert in Photoshop) - So much to it. So good luck with all that.;)

    Thanks lads,

I thought I could put a good portfolio together & then I found I dont have as much as I thought.

I'm trying to put together drawings at home. One thing I'm having difficulty with is entering my name and date etc onto the title block. I'll be good to go & with this help I could maybe add 2 0r 3 more drawings.

Hope you might be able to help with this 1.

    Thanks

    Hey

I got that wee matter sorted out. Im using an older version, put me of a bit.

How many drawings is the norm to present?

This is the first time I've been asked to bring something to show my drafting skills.

Oh blimey, my printer is packing in now, Ive no ink, and i know i have some in the cartridge, perhaps this is a matter for another board?

    thanks
