Wilful Computer Keeps Changing Settings

My PC has for the last few days been changing my keyboard from UK to US. I am not making any changes in the settings of the PC or anything else. I receive no warning message and no dialogue box requesting permission to make changes. I only know the changes have happened if I am writing an email when I ‘Shift’ and the key on my keyboard with the apostrophe and the @ symbol above it. This should put the @ in any email address I am typing but instead puts quotation marks (“).

In addition to this the date format on my PC in the bottom righthand corner keeps changing to US format, i.e. mm/dd/yyyy.

Today, in Microsoft Word the proofing language has changed itself from English (United Kingdom) to English (United States).

    1. Could you please suggest why this is happening?

    2. How do I change the settings back to UK settings? (A restart seems to solve the issue, but you do not want to do that when you are in the middle of doing something.)

    3. Is there anything I can do to prevent this from happening again? (I know it is not a major problem, but it is very frustrating.)

I shall run the malware removal guide. I have already checked with what I have (Malwarebytes Antimalware, SUPERAntispyware and Windows Defender*) and no problems reported.

Check Control Panel > Region > Administrative tab. Your settings should be same as mine (click on Copy settings) -

You might also want to check Settings > Time and Language

    Open up start menu.

In the start menu type cmd or command prompt,Right on the cmd icon and select administrator rights.
Now while in command prompt type in the little black box "Type: chkdsk /f".(with out quotes)
Chkdsk /f will ask you a question Press Y for yes.And reboot system.
This operation can take up to 5 mins or 30 mins depending on how old your system is.

After this step is done.Go to step two.

    Now Step two.

Let's go back into cmd as administrator rights.

Then while in command prompt."Type SFC /scannow".(with out quotes)
This scan will check the integrity of the windows files.
This should take up to 10 mins to 30mins.

Type this in the command prompt to locate the CBS log file.findstr /c:"[SR]" %windir%\Logs\CBS\CBS.log >"%userprofile%\Desktop\sfclogs.txt"(with out quotes)

Save it as a text and upload it here if there are any errors.Save the text note pad as onto your desktop. This will be much easier to find.

Than we will go into CMD again and do this option.

    Open Start, type: CMD
    Right click CMD
    Click Run as administrator

At the command prompt, type: lpksetup /u

    Hit Enter

Follow the on screen wizard then uninstall any languages listed.

    Should look like this.
