If I uninstall my OS windows Vista home premium and install it again from the CD will it fix errors in device manager? This is what happens, When I plugged In my new Nikon CoolPix s9050 camera It tries to download driver software but it will not install. In device Manager there 2 problems under portable devices it shows digital still camera with yellow question mark cannot load the drivers for this device Code 31. The camera loads just fine on a different computer. I think it's a PC problem. Also Mass storage device error cannot use this hardware device it has been prepared for safe removal code 47 I have nothing plugged in to remove. What if I restore computer back to factory settings will that fix problems? Let me know if you understand what I am trying to ask, let me know if you can't understand question

Not necessarily; you may run into the exact same problems. Or not - it's hard to predict.

See if anything in here helps: http://support.nikonusa.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/493/

    Hi

    A few questions:

Did your camera come with a software/driver disk of any sort?

Also, are you simply wanting to transfer the pictures, or are you connecting the camera for other reasons as well? If you simply want to transfer pictures, you can remove the memory card from the camera and use a USB card reader (if your computer doesn't already have a card reader in it) to access the memory card directly.

    pillener,
The disk that came with the camera only has Panorama maker 6,View NX2 and a user manual. Best Buy was able to load the driver on there computer. I called Nikon Tech support on the phone Talked to 3 different techs and they all said I needed to update the firmware they sent me a E-Mail with a link for where to get the firmware but on the page there is nothing for my camera. Yes all I wanted to do is transfer my pictures to my computer, I just bought a USB card reader but I have not tried to use it yet to see if it will work. I have windows vista home premium on computer now. I have the disks to re install it. Will that fix the problem?

Forget about reinstalling Vista - you'd probably have the same problem.

    This from the Nikon site:
We had 3 digital cameras. I haven't installed any drivers in years.
I simply remove the sd card from the cameras, and copy the pictures to the computer. I burn the pictures to a data CD first. Then I open the pictures to be sure they are okay after which I remove the pictures from the camera card (if I don't want to take the card someone and print out some pictures). Once the pictures are safely burned, I can open my editing software and tweak them.

My advice: forget connecting the camera to any computer and simply use the card reader. You will have a lot fewer headaches.

If you are just going to use the memory card reader, I would suggest that you right-click on the error devices in Device Manager and uninstall them.
