will I lose data if I reboot with win98?

See my other thread for background info. I am about to reboot with my Win98 bootdisk but am a little worried since in the book it says
CAUTION: Dell recommends against reinstallihng the windows operating system over your currently installed windows operating system. Doing so could render your operating system inoperative.

Also it says : If you have not already done so, it is extremely important that you create program diskettes of your dell installed utilities and drivers. If you reinstall win98 without the utilities and drivers, your system amay be unusable.

I can make them and they are .exe files, but how would I get them to run?

I need support and not the cross your heart type.

Man am I worried.

Make the backup copies and don't worry about using them unless you have to. If you got thiss far and the new syystem says "can't detect modem" you will reinstall the modem driver. Use google to get help printouts on anything you don't understand and pracctice reinstalling drivers and such while you are still up and running.---if you print out help files on installation procedures this will help you if you can't get a net connection.
