I just pick up a Toshiba satellite C650-031 model psc12c-3100s
When I turn it on it goes to the Toshiba screen and then trys to start up.
    I get check cable connection!
    PXE-MOF: Exitng Intel PXE ROM.
No bootable device -- insert boot disk and press any key

I tried restarting and went to setup (F2)
I get system time and date
CPU Type: Intel Pentium CPU P6200
    CPU speed: 2.13 GHz
    HDD/SSD: none
    ODD: TSSTcorp CDDVDW TS-L633C (S4)
    Total Memory size: 4096 MB
    System BIOS Version:1.60
    EC version: 1.50

I go to the boot setup the HDD/SSD is a ST9500325AS(S1)
I tried to reload Windows 7 and there is no partition C to load to
can the hard drive be damaged?

Also tried system restore , Startup recovery and nothing so do I
    have to replace the harddrive?
    very confused.

    Greetings, b1jqxk44.

That message means that there is no longer a bootable drive found in your system. Since you can enter your BIOS setup, do so and set your boot order to "CD/DVD first" and boot to the Windows 7 disk - you should then be presented options for creating/formatting a boot partition.

Is this a used machine? If so the possibility exists that the hard drive has been replaced and that no bootable partitions are present.

I get to where do you want to install Windows nothing is in the text box.
Under the text box is Refresh, Delete, Format, New, Load driver and Extend.
Only the load driver icon works.
It saids to install the device driver needed to access your hard drive insert
installation media containing the driver files click OK.
this could be a CD DVD USB flash disk.

I went to the pcsupport.toshiba. com I can find C650 laptops
    but not my model no.
Where can I go from here?

My next step would be to boot to a SeaTools disk to check the integrity of that Seagate drive.

See this in what you posted setup gives for information?
Have you opened it up to see if there is a hard drive in the laptop?

I downloaded seagate put it on disc tried to boot from it
a blank screen for about 4 to 5 minutes and then it went
back to no bootable device insert boot disc press any key.

Put the windows disc in and played with it I was able to
view the hard drive the drive is called (Boot X:)?
    133GB total 131GB free.

Why would a drive be called Boot X:?

Download the SeaTools .iso file and burn that file as an image to a CD/DVD (ImgBurn and InfraRecorder are good free .iso burning programs if you don't already have one).

These programs are advertising supported and may offer to install third party programs that are not required for the programs to run. These may include a toolbar, changing your homepage, default search engine or other third party programs. Please watch the installation carefully to opt out.

Then boot to that disk and run the SeaTools.

I finally fixed this Toshiba C650. I picked up a hard drive for free
Reinstalled Windows and it works great.

Missing some drivers like Ethernet Controller
    Network Controller
PCI Data acquistion and Signal Prossesing controller
    PCI Simple communications controller
    SM Bus controller

I tried Toshiba support and they sent me in circles from one site to the next.
I need to load these drivers just to get on the net. Where can I find them?

    Good afternoon.

The model # PSC12C-3100S is showing as invalid at the Toshiba Support site - please recheck that ID.

When you do access the proper files for your computer, make sure to install any chipset package first (as indicated by your missing SM Bus controller), then concentrate on the other missing software.

Caliban that is my modal number. The Toshiba support told me the same thing
invalid modal no. I tried the serial no. same thing.

Anyways, I ran driver booster 1.0. It downloaded the proper drivers I needed
and installed them. All my drivers are up to date now.
