I have been working on a Dell GX260. Formatted HD reinstalled XP pro. When I start the computer and have my HP inkjet printer plugged into any usb, it will not boot or even go into cmos. Just get a flashing cursor. If I unplug the usb cable, I can boot to windows or get into the cmos. I can then plug the cable back in and the printer works. The GX260 can't be set to use a usb device as a boot device so it's not that. Any thoughts?

You could try uninstalling your USB drivers (in Device Manager), then reboot (probably without the printer plugged in) to reinstall the drivers. Then see if it will behave properly.
Any ? or ! on the USB drivers in Device manager?
