New to this board, and glad I registered. Have always known about you guys and downloaded a ton, but am now in need of some "Major" advice.

I just got a "free" Dell machine from a "non-geek" friend who thought his machine was trash. As a Dell, it was, but now I want salvage his old P4-1.4Ghz 478 socket processor on an upgraded Motherboard. Will this old CPU, from an Intel 850 Chipset 400fsb Motherboard work in a Biostar P4VMA-M Via Socket 478 MicroATX Motherboard.

Thanks for your info and help in advance.

Well, its should work providing the mainboard is made by intel. Try having a look in the motherboard manual it should say in there. Even if the motherboard isn't made by intel it could still work. But as i said just have a cheack in the manual. :)
