Will Ram Fix It?

Hello everyone,

Let me go ahead and knock out my specs:

Nvidia GTX 550ti
Intel Core2 Quad CPU 2.66Ghz
ASUS P5N-D Motherboard
4GB RAM
Windows Vista (32bit)

(If there's anything else relevant, let me know and I'll add it)

Now, to the issue. Here recently I've run into a few games I'm having trouble running at a sustainable, decent frame-rate. The primary offenders being Star Wars: The Old Republic and Witcher 2.

I've talked to a few of my "computer geek" friends and they say that what I really need is more RAM. With that said, I know that Windows Vista 32bit will only recognize a maximum of 3.5GB of RAM. I'm considering upgrading to Windows 7 (64bit) and adding an additional 4GB of ram.

Will that show a marked performance increase or do I need a new video card or processor or something else along that line?

Any advice at all is appreciated!

 

Before you spend any money, go to NVIDIA's website and be sure you have the latest video driver. If not, download and install it. This will sometimes solve problems associated with gaming.

those games will run fine on your rig, have you tried lowering your settings?
adding additional ram will only give you very little increase on FPS which is not noticeable. also try killing processes which is not necessary so that you have enough ram space.

 

As gman863 told you before you must uninstall your graphic card using this way

you must run it in normal mode
restart your machine
you have to do the same thing in safe mode



then you are able to install the new drivers , when the installation is finished your have to reboot your machine :wave
