I have a Dell computer, desk top. it is 4-6 years old. maybe older. i think it has 1.0 USB ports. ..jury is still out for the moment on whether it has 1.0 or 2.0
my RAM is 1.50 GB of RAM And I use Windows XP Version 2002.

    My question is:

I would like to install the game World of War craft to this computer. I discovered I have a compact Disk in the computer and no DVD player. and i discovered that i need a DVD player to install the DVD game disk to the hard drive. iks!!...need this , need that..it never ends!
So can I get a DVD player for this computer and swap out the compact disk and have every thing work well?
Is this a lot of effort? ..can I down load what is on the disks of the internet, and it be easier? or is a DVD player that much better?

If you need to run DVDs then changing out a CD player for a DVD is easy. All you need to do is undo the screw holding the current unit, remove the cables, slide the unit out, check the jumper (For IDE drives), change the jumper on the new unit if necessary, slide the new unit in, screw it up and reattach the cables.

BTW, most of the time downloading the contents of copy-written DVDs from the internet is illegal.

    Thanks Colinsl !

By the way, I did not mean to imply I would seek out illegal copies, no I meant I would buy the game and down load it..... thanks for being concerned.:)

I have decided that i will buy a DVD player and install it. i think that will be my best route.

And it appears that I have 2.0 on all my USB ports.

    Thanks Collinsl
