Will Win7 work on eSATAII motherboard

Been hopping around the different forums looking for help on trying Win 7 64 bit on my older motherboard. The question that keeps coming up is whether I'll be able to get the Nvidia drivers. The motherboard is AS Rock eSATAII and takes up to 8 gb DDRII RAM. The AMD processor is listed to run a 32bit OS and a 64bit OS operating system simultaneously, which I understand to mean simultaneously installed rather than running simultaneously. This would be useful while I'm trying out the installation. I ran a test on the internet and the hardware tests out fine, but the question of the drivers keeps coming up. I currently have 2gb RAM, which may be too low to accept the installation.

Thanks for any thoughts on this.

Your AMD processor should be capable of a 64-bit architecture, and AMD has touted it longer than Intel. However, just to be safe can you specify what hardware we are dealing with? Full specs, please.

Any driver issues can usually be solved by installing older drivers using what is called "Compatibility Mode". This means that Windows will use the Vista, or XP driver as if it were the OS you are using.

    Hi mekanic,
Thanks! As soon as I bought the Win7 OS, I misplaced my MB manual with the specs.

However, I can happily report that the installation went well, despite only having two gigs of RAM instead of the recommended 4.

The only weird thing that happened was that the reformatting of my c-drive seemed oddly fast, so I backed up to reformat it again and all my partitions disappeared. However, not one to be stopped by a little problem like disappearing partitions, I got out my nifty program "partition genie" and found that all the partitions were intact and I reformatted the C drive using that program. I then went back and installed the OS again and it worked. I was thrilled!! when I got to the desktop. I got an internet connection, the Windows updates, the drivers for my printer, so I feel fairly safe in saying it all looks pretty good. It's the 64-bit version and hopefully getting new RAM will speed up the updates, but I'm not sure that's why they're slow. They might just be slow. I haven't put the comp under a full load yet, but I'm very pleased with what I'm seeing so far.

Everyone so far told me it was risky because the MB was only cleared for Vista 64, but I decided it was worth a try. <very big grin>

    Thanks for your help.
