Win 10 Admin Password

Good morning,
When I set up Win 10 I set up an admin profile where I try to do all installs and major tasks, and two other profiles where it is intended to actually do the work. In my personal profile, there are still a number of tasks that keep requiring I enter the Admin PW. Is there a way to not have to enter the PW in a profile that does not have admin rights? Occasionally I have small task related installs or need to move files and I have to enter the PW first. A bit irritating.

 

An Admin account allows you to install programs, change settings and generally do things that could damage the OS or files (such as installing an unknown "free" program that contains malware). A Standard (a.k.a. Limited) account requires the Admin password to do such things, preventing other users from screwing things up.

What is the reason for using multiple accounts? If other people use the Standard accounts and you don't want them messing with things when you're not around, you're better off living with the irritation of occasionally having to enter the PW. If you are the only user, you can go into User Account Control and promote any or all of the other accounts to Admin level. This final idea I don't recommend; however you could change the Admin PW to something easy to type like "qwerty123".

Yeah, I knew this. Kind of defeats the purpose of whey I set it up this way originally to make the change I suggested. Over time, passwords and computer security become an irritation, but one that needs to be resisted. Even now, I am set up with 2 level authentication for MG, and have to go find my phone everytime I want to message.

The "Guest" account does have it's purpose. Fewer permissions, less vulnerability as well.

Agree with Mekanic, If your comprimised in anyway, the shell cant run as root from a guest account.
At least until they can sniff the admins creds, cause security has been let go!
