Win 10 Cursor Disappeared For One User

I'm running Windows 10 on an Asus E510. I have two logins. One is the administrative user and the other is just the local user. I use the local user as my main account because I read here years ago that it can help thwart some spyware. I was using the laptop when my cursor disappeared. I tried control+alt+delete and I could see it, but the cursor was then frozen. So I restarted the computer. At that point the cursor was gone. Hitting the ctrl button doesn't show me where it is either. The cursor is present when I log into the other account (admin).

    What I've tried:
    • restarting, shutting down
    • Hitting the FN key +all the other F keys.
    • Prayer
    • Hitting just the F keys
    • Hitting Windows + I which does bring the menu up, however I'm completely unable to navigate through it. The arrow keys and tab key won't focus on that window.
    • More prayer
    • Hitting Ctrl+R then typing main.cpl which does pull up the windows generic trackpad folder and I could sort of navigate with the up and down arrows, but making changes had no effect or the "enter" might not have worked.
    • Hitting Ctl+Alt+Delete to pull up the task manager. I thought restarting explorer.exe over again might help, but although I can use my arrow keys on that one, hitting the enter button did nothing for me. It's like it wouldn't respond.
    • Begging it to please work.
I find it odd that the cursor and trackpad work for the admin account, but not the local account. I've never had that happen before. This laptop is only two weeks old. I'd appreciate any help you can provide.

You should be contacting the place where you bought the computer from.

So you think it's a bad motherboard or something, rather than problem where I just hit the wrong key or did something accidentally to turn off the trackpad?

Ah, it just happened with the administration account too. The cursor just disappeared. I was able to get the cursor back by switching the user, then switching it back again. How odd.

I wish I could edit my other post. I know it's bad form to keep replying to your own thread.
I found another tutorial on the web and tried it.
When I press the Window key + X it pulls up the settings info. I go to trackpad and it's definitely turned off. So I must have done something. However, I'm unable to turn it own again. I've tried "enter" but it doesn't do anything. Using the up and down arrow key merely scrolls through the options. Using the left and right arrow key seemingly does nothing. The tab key cycles through other options. I can see it's off, but can't get it back on. I wish I had an external mouse. I need to buy one.

I solved it - finally! I'm ridiculously proud of myself, of course. Here's what I did in case it helps someone else:
    I'm using Windows 10 Asus E510
Press Windows + I (I as in ironic not l as in love - that bit messed me up some).
Use the tab key to select the touchpad.
    Then press F6

Thanks for trying to help me, plodr. Happy Holidays to you!

I didn't do anything, violet. You did all the heavy lifting: finding the cause and then posting the solution in case it happens top someone else. Thanks fo posting how you fixed it. This may help some other people.

I have the trackpads turned off on all my netbooks because the first thing I do is attach a mouse.
