Last win update blew out win10 pro, and nothing seems to fix it. Have mirror machine to one down and copied win10 pro file, tried to run it (cd) error no media driver. went back copied win07 same thing, note win 1o was "Free update"... tried all recovery, about everything listed to fix issue.. and MS Support useless and worse support out there... We can get to command prompt and sfc scan will not run, (yes using Administrator), tried both CD Burns and USB sticks. get to repair and it loops, nothing seems to work. older machine dell optiplex 755 and 64 bit..one runs perfect, other well we need help.. so. note error log showed update caused issue.. but cannot delete it either.
1 what can we copy off good mirror machine, how to run it, use Command Prompts..
2 what can we get off net, how to run it.
3 any other ideas... as have data there we need... and note have tried recovery from mirror, repairs and etc...

NOTE we CANNOT use win10 for any repair as we cannot get to either win10 nor win 7. windows repair does not work, other then command prompt. IDEAS? No clean boot or any boot..

Did you create a recovery drive?
    https://support.microsoft.com/en-us...3a5-a286-9e98f886d490/create-a-recovery-drive

    To reinstall:
    https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10
If you did the Win7 to 10 free update, it will automatically activate.

I've used this to get stuff off nonbooting PCs:

You could also use a live Ubuntu, Fedora or other Linux OS. They're more full featured but also slower off a USB drive. You'll need something to store the files you move off the PC too.

This is the easy way to get any of those onto a USB stick:

JUST, tried USB/DVD of win10 win7 (from mirror machine) as well as all the fixes you ref, and others. bklogic cannot do systems restore as cannot get 10 to come up. There is one exception and that is suing the repair USB, go to command prompt and Using CMD (administrator) \d c:/ arrives at write protected, second try of same "patch preventing system from starting, went to systems 32 log response "c:\windows\sysems32\logfiles\srt\srttrail.txt responsse was a patch is preventing the system from starting. chkdsc discfilure error code 0x0 (missing drivers) When tried to run win7 copy from mirror machine,win7 pro, response as no drivers. Tried linus 18.1 cinnamon, get computer needs repair. and got into the windows repair loop. Note have tried both USB/DVDs on all items, no difference.

so will not try to load pups, not sure how to load it as no windows other then command prompt and must go from there. Note it seems win10 still on C somewhere... but not sure how to load rufus etc from CP. So need help on it as kind of thought programs we use had ISO to start them. Note been long time since use what is now new name for DOS.Any help there appreciated and in real simply ab--c-d etc manner. Attached provides our "Consultant" favors pups..and somewhat of egotist...but heavily favors pups...

Just had a thought - It could be worth getting into the Bios, and checking that the setting has not been changed - Check that it is set with legacy mode, as Windows 10 does seem to mess with gpt , as against mbr settings, and it seem strange that neither Windows 7, nor, Windows 10 will boot.
I had to play around with my boot stings, and find the relevant bits so that I can dual boot windows 8.1 and Windows 10. It took me many hours to get it worked out, before I managed to get it right.
If you then manage to get Windows7 up, it will give you something more to work with. Trouble is, from the little I know about gpt, you may still find it difficult to look at Windows 10, if Windows 10is in gpt mode - Apparently W10 can read NFTS, but it is a different story the other way around. I#
I only mention this because I was saving stuff from old usb sticks to a spare hard drive, and it had nothing on it, and it had to be formatted, and if I formatted it as gpt , older operating systems would not be able to read it, but in NFTS, It could be read by any system.
Just thought this might be why it is showing as write protected.
The patch problem - I am not as in the knowledge on this as others will be, but, the dism commands might possibly help

    type dism image:d:\ /cleanup-image /revertpendingactions

where d:\ should be the path, where Your windows folder is located( otherwise c:\ if that is where Windows 10 is.)
