Win 10 Upgrade

I'm having an issue upgrading my win7 to 10. I've gone to the Microsoft site and downloaded the package but when I try to open it nothing is happening. My win7 is legit and everything so I don't know why this is giving me so much trouble.

I've read that windows is upgrading through the update system but I never got this nor the icon on the task bar others did...

 

Is your Windows 7 the Enterprise edition by any chance?
If so, it does not qualify.

OK, well I suggest you have a look at your windows update history, and also look carefully at 'hidden updates' - you might have to restore them to see them.
If your system is an activated and genuine licence system then you should have been getting notifications about Win 10 for the last 8-10 months.

NB: Your system MUST have Service Pack 1 installed!

thanks for your help but it's still not working and for some strange reason the "windows troubleshoot tool" that was in that link it said, my windows was not compatible for some odd reason.

In my control panel, it says I have a Genuine win 7 key and I also do have Service Pack 1

 

Maybe Microsoft will be able to help you.

 

I had the same situation on a Win 7 x64 system. When everyone else was asking how to prevent the upgrade, on my machine I never got any sign of it. I got round the problem by using the media creation tool - that worked fine.
