    Hello,

I have a PIII 737 MHz 128 M RAM PC running Win 2K. It just started rebooting repeatedly in normal mode. Safe mode & Safe mode with networking work fine. I scanned the box for spyware, adware and I scanned online for viruses (bitdefender) which revealed nothing. I defragmented the hard drive but that didn't help.

I was interested in running memtest to check my ram, but when I boot from the floppy I get the error that NTLDR is missing.

I wanted to run msconfig to see if there is a startup program that is causing the problem, but there is no msconfig on Win 2K. Also, even if I don't log on with my username and password, the system still reboots.

Is this a familiar problem? What should I do to diagnose this issue?

The version of msconfig that comes with XP will work with win2k. I usually keep a copy on a floppy for this purpose.

There have been several threads in Hardware lately (last 5 days) concerned with continual rebooting, providing lots of troubleshooting advice.

    good luck
