Win 7 Admin access woes

I have a win 7 pro 64bit 'puter, all up to date.

I am the only user of this computer and my user profile logs me on as Administrator.

I am being denied access to several folders eg C:\Documents and Settings. When I attempt to edit the security tab for this (and other) folders I appear to have "allowed" all access EXCEPT "Special Permissions" which is greyed out and I can't change anything... not even sure that this is the issue.

The only other issue, perhaps unrelated, is the "System Restore" function, while providing me with choices of dates, always fails when I try to roll back the computer. Other wise the puter seems to be functioning normally.

Documents and Settings in Win 7 isn't a real folder at all. It's just there to provide some compatibility with XP. It does not contain anything so you can simply ignore it.

You also said 'and other folders'. Which ones?

 

Thanks, I got it. Other folders included "Local Settings"" Appilcation Data" but I see now that these are all shortcuts and I can access the real files I need.

Still having trouble with "System Restore" which used to work, but mysteriously now not.

Perhaps I should start a new thread.
