Win 7 and Monitor refresh rate

Every couple of restarts my monitor refresh rate drops back to the default 60hz. It does this without warning. I always run my monitor at "1280x1024 (recommended)" (true color 32bit ) and that stays consistent. It's just that after few restarts (no set number) I'm forced to reset the monitor back to 72hz or 75hz or even 85hz from 60hz. It doesn't matter which refresh rate I choose, since it's likely to reset to the default refresh rate in a week at best.

My device manager show my monitor is properly recognized. It is identified correctly and that the driver is correct. My adapter is also correctly identified and I have the latest driver installed. However the driver does not appear to be the issue since this is the fourth driver I have run since installing Win 7. It also does not seem to be a monitor issue since I have swapped out my monitor with others I own while trying to stop this annoyance. Neither driver updates or monitor swaps have stopped the refresh rates from randomly resetting to 60hz.

It is a pain in the butt to have to reset your hardware settings every few restarts. Any ideas on how to fix this? :confused

    Thank you

I would try reloading the video drivers!

Tried that. I've completely uninstalled my video card/Geforce driver and re-installed at least twice. :confused
