    Hi All

I wanted to do a re-install of win 7 (long story), so I did a back up of my drive and reformatted the whole SSD to ntfs using GParted. When I come to install win 7 I go through the instalation process: copying windows files, expanding files etc. until it reboots automatically and then the installation continues and reboots again

This is where things get stuck - the next time it tries to reboot automatically I get as far as the windows splash screen but then all I get is a blank screen which hangs there for good. I have tried installing several times, each time wiping the drive again and I get the same result!

In bios the AHCI mode is still selected and I unplugged my spinners during install

Can anyone spot what might be causing this? Is this an SSD issue (I've had my SSD less than a year)

    Help very much appreciated,;)
    Thanks in advance

Please take a look at this:

I don't see anything that says you have done anything incorrectly. Maybe that's why noone has replied...

I found something on problems installing from a USB, but the installation doesn't start with that scenario.

I found a post where setting the SSD to first in the boot sequence worked for someone. Like this:

    1st Boot Device - SSD
    2nd Boot Device - Disabled
    3rd Boot Device - Disabled

Just curios. Why did you use gparted to format that drive, why not use the built in windows format when installing windows 7?

My thoughts exactly theefool, I just reinstalled Win 7 for a guy that deleted the wrong files and screwed up his Windows and everything worked out great using the built-in.
