WIN 98 problems

I always get an internet connection pop up. I can click
20 times and it still comes up constantly. I have done a
virus scan and removed spyware but still nothing. --dialup/powerweb.

Whenever I start the computer up, I cant go into any
program. I'll double click on a shortcut and it will
think for a little bit then nothing. Also, My Computer will not come up. I have to gain access to my HD through RUN but still no programs run. I have done a virus scan
and come up with nothing, any help appreciated, thanks in
advance.

 

It isnt my computer but im thinking it possibly had a virus at some time(or currently does). I am using norton anti virus pro with the latest definitions and spy bot search and destroy.

Yes it is, thank you very much. I will run the online virus scan tommorow.

 

The online virus scan didnt find anything either. Any other suggestions?

 

OK, do you have a Firewal enabled, if so, look at the Firewall log to determine what is attempting to connect.

If it is Norton connecting, follow through the information I posted earlier.

then if still problems name whatever the Firewall log found and follow through with HijackThis and post the log back here: http://www.majorgeeks.com/vb/showthread.php?t=26149

 

The pop up is gone but everything still runs slow and wont open.
