When I startup win 98, I get a message that says"insufficient memory press any key to continue". After pressing a key 4 times my computer boots. How can I resolve this issue? My comupter is a four year old compac presario 5700t, with 256 ram--pentium 3.
    Thanks,
    Jim

Can be something you load in your config.sys/autoexec.bat which causes the error.

Try to use msconfig to avoid loading config.sys and autoexec.bat and see if the problem disappears.

Autoexec.bat and config.sys are mainly used to configure DOS. If not using any DOS programs then autoexec.bat and config.sys are not important.

You can post the contents of your config.sys and autoexec.bat and maybe the parts causing the problem (Probably some AntiVirus scanner) can be identified and commented out.
