    Hi!

I am writing to ask for your help on some issues, pop-ups to be more specific. My PC is an old HP Pavillion system PIII, 128MB running on Windows ME edition.

I just wanted to ask what can I do to stop these pop-ups from coming up including Win Anti-Virus, Casinos on the Net and other spyware solutions that claim to "cure" my computer problems but I know clicking on them will only install more spyware popups. While running SpyBot S&D, I also found Downloadware, Network Essentials and some other stuff.

I also plan to take out most of the unnecessary programs running on the system but I just wanted to show you a copy of the HijackThis log file first to be sure.

    Thanks!
    joei.

    Hey Joeigurl,

Didn't expect to see you back so soon ;)
Gave your log a quick peek and the only things that look iffy or bad to me are the following. That doesn't mean that they are all bad.

    R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings,ProxyOverride = localhost

    O2 - BHO: (no name) - {6721FAEB-74DF-AC29-D060-C5D12EF71B0A} - C:\WINDOWS\PROFILES\MOI\APPLICATION DATA\GREAT32\DOG THIRD.EXE
    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [HeckMedia4Keep] C:\WINDOWS\All Users\Application Data\Internet Book Heck Media\Skip support.exe

    O4 - HKLM\..\RunServices: [MessengerPlus3] "C:\Program Files\Messenger Plus! 3\MsgPlus.exe"

    O16 - DPF: {03F998B2-0E00-11D3-A498-00104B6EB52E} (MetaStreamCtl Class) - https://components.viewpoint.com/MTSInstallers/MetaStream3.cab?url=www.viewpoint.com

    Hi Phil!

Nice to hear from you again! =) This is another pc (an old one) that I got from my uncle that I'm trying to clean up. As you can see, MsgPlus 3 is again in the log.

Should I go ahead and delete these stuff you listed?

    Thanks!
    joei.

    Hey JG,

I'd uninstall Messenger Plus first, then fix w/ HJT.

I don't know what the other 04 entry is or what that BHO is. You might try Googling them - or just dumping them.

You could go ahead and dump the 016s, or google them first as well.

    Best :)
