Running a P4 1.7 Ghz 512 Meg ram with dial-up access. win xp ver 2 (using the Geeks recomendation of clean rather than over the top of Win 98SE) Installation Worked great BUT, IE keeps changing the small icons of all my favorites to the great IE logo. ( that's a small problem actually, but a big pain in the ---). Major issue is when I try to switch to firefox (Start - program access - custom - choose default web brower ) I check firefox, disable ie, and enter. The machine sits there "setting mozilla firefox as default application" for up to 20 minutes doing nothing. If I cancel and go back in it shows "use my default web browser". It did once dowload the latest firefox version, but still didn't switch to it as default browser.

For the icon problem, this is a long-standing and common complaint with Internet Explorer.

I use AM DeadLink, a very handy program.

It will check for dead favourite links, and download icons. (Freeware)

As far as the FireFox problem, what version is it, and what operating system are you using?

Ironically Dragonarse, I had the exact same problem when I first upgraded to 'Firefox.' That same screen appeared and all I did was "X" out of it (I didn't wait) and then set 'Firefox' as the default browser and have been good ever since. BTW, if you happen to want to use 'Thunderbird,' it'll do the same thing!! I'm using Win2000Pro and I went to start>Set Program Access and Defaults, opened that and made 'Firefox' my default. Hope that helps!!:)

I don't use FireFox, but you should be able to set it as default under Tools, Options menu.

Then double-check Set Program Access and Defaults (Custom) under Add/Remove in Control Panel.
